Hello astute readers! It’s time for another update on what is going on out there in the wonderful world of arcades:
Cosmotrons – Where Will The First Production Cabinet Go?
If you follow the site regularly then the upcoming indie arcade title Cosmotrons is in no need of an introduction. If you have been chomping at the bit to play the game, then gamers in or near Menomonee Falls, WI will be the first to get their chance to experience the production version of the game as unveiled in this video:
On top of that, Shane Gutbrod of Arcadeaholics LLC has provided a little more info as to changes/improvements made to the software:
We have added operator adjustments for gravity strength, ship rotation speed, and quantity of bullets. For the general public just having it on the slightly easier gravity setting has been VERY well received. In order not to leave hardcore players out, a “Tournament Settings” mode can be toggled for their play session by each of them holding a specific button for a certain amount of time. For their session their gravity and other settings get set back to “normal”, it speeds up map voting, transitions, and other info experienced players already know, and more!
As mentioned in the video above, expect to find the game available around April – I imagine that other interested arcades will be able to get their hands around that time.
Starwing Paradox – Direct Footage
For Square Enix’s latest flying robot, capture-the-point battle arena game, now you can enjoy the glory of it via direct capture:
IGS Demonstrates Hero Of Robots GO!
News out of IGS is infrequent but if you’re interested in seeing their take on active AR arcade gaming, here you go:
MyArcade Brings Micro Arcade Cabinets To Market
I received an Atari Asteroids cabinet for Christmas but as a “game” it’s a piece of hot garbage so it just serves as a decoration. MyArcade is promising to greatly improve on some of those questionable mini-cades you find out there by offering mini cabinets with full color LCDs and licensed, original game software. So far they are offering Data East arcade classics such as Burgertime, Karate Champ, Caveman Ninja, Heavy Barrel and Bad Dudes Vs. Dragonninja. At $30 each they won’t set you back much either. Check them out here.
Skeeball Display Upgrade Kickstarter
Owners of older Skeeball alley bowlers (Model H & S) might be interested in this new Kickstarter project that aims to create a drop-in replacement for the old bulb based numerical displays. Now with LEDs and modern microcontrollers, this is something that collectors or operators of older units may find useful.

Amusement Expo 2018 This Week!
As a reminder, Amusement Expo is happening this week in Las Vegas. There haven’t been many announcements as to what products will be there but I do know for certain we will find: Injustice; X Games Snowboarder; TMNT; Mannequin Challenge; Tipsy Raccoons, NEON FM, Pirates Of the Caribbean pinball, Guardians of the Galaxy pinball and the Atari PONG table. One interesting note is that the Atari PONG table will be at the Jersey Jack booth instead of the UNIS one; UNIS will be there with a smaller version of their IAAPA booth and latest games. There is also usually a surprise or two to see, so I’ll be sure to be on the look out for anything fresh and unique. Stay tuned to Arcade Heroes for more news as we get it as I will be there for a day and a half of the trade show portion of the event.
Until then, I’ve got a new design up for sale; I may add another one this weekend.
If you find yourself in Blackpool, UK…
…and really love rare arcade simulators, then Ridge Racer Full Scale is still around:
Hidden in Blackpool Pleasure Beach is possibly the last working Ridge Racer Full Scale. Has seen better days, but it’s amazing they’ve kept it running all these years. And yes, that is a real Mazda MX-5! @BandaiNamcoUK @BandaiNamcoEU @7Ten @ArcadeLionUK @SaraAB87 @arcadeheroes pic.twitter.com/3kmCtv0KTz
