If you’ve ever wondered how video games are or were designed and developed, you’re probably not alone!
And now we’ve been given a unique insight into the game design process – or at least how things were done in the early 90s! This is all thanks to to the RoboCop vs. Terminator game design document, which was shared over on Twitter this week.
RoboCop vs. Terminator was released on the SEGA Mega Drive in 1994 (or SEGA Genesis for our friends across the pond – and it’s technically a Genesis design doc). It was developed by Virgin Games USA and dstributed by Virgin Interactive Entertainment. Although the game was not critically-acclaimed, it was admired for its comic book-esque cinema sequences and – let’s not forget – featured two of the biggest, baddest action heroes around!

The document itself offers a unique and fascinatingly detailed overview of various aspects of the game proposition; including pricing, sketches, menu design, difficulty level and more! Take a look at some of the pages below;
