Stern Pinball today revealed the highly-anticipated black-and-white 70th Anniversary Edition of their popular Godzilla game.
Priced at $9,699, this is a Premium-level release, sticking with the company’s promise not to produce subsequent Limited Edition models after the initial release. As a result, there is no restriction on the number of 70th Anniversary Edition machines Stern Pinball can produce.
The cabinet and backbox artwork are monochromatic with just the 70th Anniversary logo sporting any colour. It gains a matching red backbox trim and red flipper buttons.
Although not a Limited Edition, the cabinet and backbox artwork is a monochromatic version of the left-side and cabinet front art from the original Limited Edition. Unlike that initial release though, the left and right cabinet and backbox sides of the 70th Anniversary Edition are just mirror images of each other (with the exception of the 70th Anniversary logo, or course). They do feature a brushed metallic finish though. The translite image is a reworked version of the design used in the original Limited Edition.
The playfield is based on the Premium/Limited Edition with a full monochromatic 70th Anniversary treatment to the artwork, decals and plastics, including the flipper bats which become white as opposed to the original yellow. The playfield inserts and billboard LEDs maintain their original colours though.
